Bruce A. Kettelkamp was sworn-in as the Sheriff of Christian County on December 1, 2010. Sheriff Kettelkamp started his law enforcement career as a police dispatcher with Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville campus police in 1972. Sheriff Kettelkamp then went on to be a police officer for the City of Nokomis and Hillsboro, Illinois. In 1977 Sheriff Kettelkamp began his 27 year career with the Illinois State Police. With the Illinois State Police Sheriff Kettelkamp held many different positions, a road trooper, an executive security officer, and a special agent in criminal investigations, an undercover narcotics agent, a supervisor for a multi-agency drug task force, and a supervisor of a platoon of troopers responsible for covering seven different counties.
Sheriff Kettelkamp is 60 years old, has five children and lives with his family in rural Taylorville, Christian County. Sheriff Kettelkamp has an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement Administration, and is a graduate of the Officer Administrative Course at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
Sheriff Kettelkamp serves as treasurer of the Taylorville Youth Football Association, is a member of the St Mary’s Catholic Church, YMCA, Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, Pana Chamber of Commerce, Taylorville Moose Lodge, Taylorville Optimist Club, Christian County NRA, MADD, Christian County Triad, and the Christian County Coalition against underage drinking.
