Sending a Mail/Package

Cook County Jail permits offenders to receive approved mail and care packages. Inmates can receive postcards, magazines, newspapers, envelopes, and books. Care packages include clothes, snacks, and medical devices. However, these are strictly inspected before they are passed on to the receivers.

Sending Money

The Cook County Jail allows inmates to receive funds from well-wishers and family members deposited in their commissary accounts. Moreover, an inmate who has cash at the time of arrest can deposit the money into their commissary accounts.

If you want to send funds to an inmate at Cook County Jail, you can do it in two ways:

  • You can deposit the money at the kiosk at the lobby during visitations in cash, credit, and debit cards.
  • You can also mail money online through JailATM.com and credit or debit cards.

Phone Calls

This Cook County Jail allows offenders to make and receive calls. To make calls, an inmate uses collect calls, but the cost is incurred by the calling party, family members, or friends. The Cook County Jail also employs Prodigy Inmate Phones, where the inmate pays for the call through their commissary accounts.

Visitations

The Cook County Jail permits inmates to receive social visits from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays, and 7:30 am to 2:30 pm on weekends. The visits only last 15 minutes. You can only visit an inmate if you appear on their visitation list, which they fill upon being booked and processed to the Cook County Jail. The inmates are allowed to adjust the visitation list once a month.
